Journals
Journal entries were made to reflect on our experiences, thoughts, struggles and accomplishments from our projects. The following are excerpts chosen to exemplify what was occurring with my project during certain parts of the year.
Journal 1: Getting Started
"I feel better about my event being a yoga fundraising event than a 5K road race, because it seems like a more achievable goal for me to complete within the year"
Journal 2: Fieldwork: First 8 hours
"Recently, I accomplished a significant goal of finding a yoga instructor available on April 29th. The problem is that Ms. Homer must still figure out insurance and custodians for my event. The yoga instructor I found has insurance but her insurance may not carry over to cover the event as a whole. She said she would get back to me as soon as she figures it out so I am waiting to hear back. If the insurance is still not covered, I will need to find another way to avoid paying for my own insurance, as the cost is too high for a nonprofit event".
Journal 4
"They renamed themselves the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, which is a minor change but caused a problem with my original event name. The fundraiser was originally called Namaste for CCFA, which is catchy and rhymes. My mentor came up with a new name called Keep Calm for Crohn’s, which is a good catchy name, but I really liked the rhyme of the original name".
